Frequently Asked Questions

You must be at least 18 years old to get a tattoo, or 16 with parental consent and proof of guardianship and your parent/guardian must be with you for the duration of the appointment.


  • It's recommended to eat a meal before your appointment.
  • Avoid drinking alcohol for at least 24 hours before getting a tattoo.
  • Avoid taking aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil), or any blood thinners for at least 24 hours before getting a tattoo.
  • Let your artist know of any skin irritation (ie. eczema, acne, etc.), before your tattoo.
  • We require ID at your appointment.
  • You are welcome to bring snacks and drinks for your appointment.


  • Leave the second skin on for the first 2-3 days after getting a new tattoo as long as the bandage is still air tight and there is no leaking from the bandage.
  • When taking the second skin off, it is easier and cleaner to do in the shower under running water.
  • Wash the tattoo off with an unscented soap and pat dry (do not rub or scrub dry).
  • Apply a non-scented, alcohol free lotion (i.e. Aveeno, lubriderm) as needed to the tattoo. Apply no more than 3 times per day.


Avoid swimming or soaking your new tattoo in water (swimming/soaking in pools, lakes, rivers, ponds, hot tubs, baths, etc.) for at least 4-6 weeks (ask your artist if you're unsure). You can still shower and clean your tattoo with unscented soap.


No, we don't currently have a PMU working at Ink Den, so we don't offer permanent make up (beauty marks, lip blushing, eyebrows/microblading, freckles).
